A BIRD killer is on the loose after allegedly luring 10 seagulls into a parking lot and mowing them down.
Maryland police found a group of dead seagulls in the parking lot of a shopping center on Saturday morning.
Laurel Police Department officers were responding to a report of animal cruelty when they saw the birds bodies lying very close to each other.
According to the department’s Facebook: “Through investigation, officers learned that a subject purchased a bag of pre-popped popcorn from the Dollar Tree.
“That subject then emptied the bag of popcorn in the parking lot intentionally luring the group seagulls.”
The driver in question fled the scene after running over the helpless birds.
The incident – which police believe happened between 9am and 10.30am – took place in the Laurel Plaza Shopping Center parking lot in Laurel, Maryland.
Photos of Corporal Wilson holding one of the injured seagulls were shared Sunday to Facebook.
The post read: “Despite yesterday’s senseless act of violence against animals, a glimmer of love and kindness shone through when Cpl. Wilson rescued one of the injured birds and was able to get the bird to a wildlife rescue to try and repair it’s broken wing.”
